Effective immigration is a critical part of the American dream and keeping our nation safe.  Immigration must first prioritize securing our borders which is a prerequisite to a comprehensive solution for immigration policy.  This includes effective partnerships with our neighbors to mitigate drug routes, human smuggling, and terrorist access to our country while protecting our job markets.  Achieving this security while balancing our proud history of legal migration to the United States is important.  I believe in temporary work programs that reflect the evolving job market as an initial measure of legitimizing those hard workers who follow our laws in hopes of becoming American someday.
